These things have been happening here in frankfort for many years. The court system is not fair with some people that they have come through their court rooms. 2 people in court for same crime and found guilty with same history and one goes to prison for a couple years and the other 1 year probation. A lot of that is because the judges let the probation officers do the sentencing and then the judge just carries the sentence out. I've seen at least 3 cases in the past 2 years where the probation officer comes up with bogus violations to have someone arrested and reports it to the courts so then a judge has a letter sent to the violator telling them to report to the jail on a certain date then waits at least 2 weeks after their deadline then sends the letter out while at the same time puts out a warrant on the person, Now thats a scam! There are at least 2 detectives here in frankfort right now that are involved in drugs for themselves or family members but yet they are allowed to arrest others for what they do themselves. I guess thats how they are getting their drugs. Yes, the police and court system here treats everyone as guilty before any hearing and never let you say everything you need to say to prove your not guilty. When you get arrested here you are already guilty and will be sentenced due that no one here cares to do a true investigation. They just want to get things out of the way and go on just as long as they can say they got someone for the crime. Hell I got a ticket after leaving work one nite cause I had a ball hitch on my truck and wasnt using it at the time but they are on new trucks when you buy them so shouldn't it be against the law to sell new trucks with the hitch on them. They come up with really dumb things to harrase people for here. At the jail when they arrest some people that have their own prescriptions they never give them back when you get out and always say, you sure you had them, we can't find any record of them so they never show up or returned and lately people have been loosing their clothes they came into the jail with. We found one womans clothes she went in with at the jail which had been taken to goodwill. Whats up with that? They do drugs, set people up, unfair trials, and steal but I guess thats ok because they are the LAW!. If you have any complaints about the law or laws here then PLEASE contact the US District Attorneys Office or the US District Courts and demand an investigation. Lets put a stop to the real criminals.

That really isn’t what Messer said if you watch the interview. Here is a link to the video: http://video.msnbc.msn.com/the-daily-rundown/52056494#52056494

When asked about the plan, Messer talked about there being more consensus than what you are hearing from Democrats. Later he said, "A lot of this is a distraction. It’s not only a distraction from issues like Benghazi and the IRS and Department of Justice, but it’s a distraction from the fact that the real threat to college-age students in America today is not a few more dollars on their student loan, it’s the fact that the explosive growth of debt, the fact that the jobs in this economy for young people entering the marketplace have been the people probably most hurt by the Obama policies," he said.

Then after being asked about how this position could be harmful politically, Messer replied saying:

"The bottom line is, what you're saying is the president's an effective politician. He does a good job of distracting people from things that they ought to be focused on, and sometimes focusing them on things that while important, listen, none of us want to see student-loan rates spike, are only part of the larger problem.

"I think, as Republicans, we've got to do a better job of explaining how our ideas apply to young people. Sometimes it sounds like he's selling ice cream and we're selling spinach. But I think personal responsibility is pretty cool. There is nothing out of date about freedom, and we need to have the policies that get this budget back in line, stop the explosive growth of spending -- spending that will be paid for by this generation. And we've got to do a better job of explaining that."

This article is really misleading.

Conservative religious racism in prisons.
ICAN, (Indiana Canine Association Network) Is a prison dog training program in Indiana prisons.
Melinda Loveless is an active dog trainer there. Melinda masterminded the 1992 kidnapping, 10 hr torture, and murder (burned alive) of 12-yr-old Shanda Sharer.
Fellow inmate and assisted murderer of Shanda, Hope Rippey was in the ICAN program and released early under suspicious circumstances.
Search: “Shanda Sharer”
Search: “ICAN”+”Melinda Loveless”
Search: “Hope Rippey”+”Early Release”

ICAN’s mission statement is;
“To qualify for the program, offenders must have a background clear of violent behavior.”
So why is Melinda, and Hope before her in this program? Indiana prisons are overflowing with non-violent offenders, so better choices are available.
http://goshennews.com/local/x1759190873/Low-level-offenders-filling-Indiana-prisons

No one knows who paid for Melinda’s attorney with her attempt at release in 2007 and Hope Rippey’s early release in 2006 is bogus and the funds are also suspicious.

ICAN appears to support only religious Caucasian inmates and the beneficiaries of the dogs they train appear to be only Caucasian as well.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jjBo93K8T0
Odds are, most of the recipients of the prison trained dogs ($900) are affluent enough to pay for the dogs on the open market ($16,000). It costs ICAN approximately $16,000 to fully train an assistance dog.
http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~ican/facts
Is this another case of wealthy white people taking advantage of prison slave labor…. than setting them free

ICAN Revenue: $10 mil. - $25 mil. But ICAN’S Sally Irvin says $291,000 per yr in another interview. Over ten years that only adds up to $3 mil, so where is the rest going?

Sally Irvin is affiliated with an all white prison ministry called Kairos. Both Hope and Melinda are converted born again Christians while incarcerated and chances are they belonged to this religious prison org. Many board members have Indiana and NC connections.

Why is NASCAR’s Tony Stewart’s foundation for disabled children supporting a prison program led by a convicted child killer?
For 2011, the board of the Tony Stewart Foundation awarded $10,000 Grant to ICAN

ICAN’s mission statement is;
“To qualify for the program, offenders must have a background clear of violent behavior.”

The writer is wrong. On my blog www.ogdenonopolitics.com, I've done an extensive analysis of current law, the House's proposed HB 1006 and the Senate's amendments to HB 1006 that supposedly make the punishment more severe. The current bill, even with the Senate amendments, make the punishment for marijuana possession less harsh than what the penalty is is now. For example, simple possession under current law is a Class A misdemeanor, the misdemeanor with the harshest punishment, i.e. up to one year in jail.. The House's version would make it a Class C misdemeanor, the least misdemeanor. The Senate's version makes simple possession a Class B misdemeanor, which is less strict than current law. When you look at all the different enhancement options, past convictions, weight of the marijuana, etc., current law still has harsher punishment than the proposed changes to the law.

Without the expansion of Medicaid in Indiana we may have people fall through the cracks of subsided health insurance. Under the health care reform, if someone is eligible for Medicaid then they are not eligible for subsidies in the exchange. It will be interesting to see how the Federal Health Exchange addresses this issue in Indiana.
If you qualify for subsidies you will not pay more than 9.5% of house hold income for health insurance and that is on the high end. One could end up paying 5% of house hold income and then have subsidies for health care expenses.
No one knows how health insurance is going to look next year. One thing can be agreed on and that is the prices is going up.

I agree with most of what you said, Pepper, but personally, I would never vote for anyone who is pro-abortion. I hate the term "pro-choice" because "they" love it and call us "anti-choice". I am not against personal choice. I simply believe a woman has a "choice" not to have unprotected sex and get pregnant. Once she IS pregnant, then the baby also has rights - mainly the RIGHT TO LIFE, which outweighs the woman's right to choice.

Any time you vote for a pro-abortion candidate, you are contributing to the number of abortions that are happening every year in our nation. I'm old enough to remember when abortion was illegal. I guarantee that there weren't hardly ANY abortions before Roe v Wade. You rarely heard about women that died from backstreet abortion. AND here's an interesting fact for you: Guess who was doing the backstreet abortions?? The SAME doctors (or types of doctors now, of course) who perform abortion in the abortion clinics. They usually did the abortions after hours when their regular medical practice was closed. And - just as today - the girls didn't receive good after care and instructions, and ended up dying sometimes from bleeding or infection. There is a big cover-up on how many women still die from LEGAL abortion...for the same reasons.

Anyway, just my two (or ten) cents worth. Love you guys!

I hate the term “pro-choice” because “they” love it and call us “anti-choice”. I am not against personal choice. I simply believe a woman has a “choice” not to have unprotected sex and get pregnant. Once she IS pregnant, then the baby also has rights – mainly the RIGHT TO LIFE, which outweighs the woman’s right to choice.

Any time you vote for a pro-abortion candidate, you are contributing to the number of abortions that are happening every year in our nation. I’m old enough to remember when abortion was illegal. I guarantee that there weren’t hardly ANY abortions before Roe v Wade. You rarely heard about women that died from backstreet abortion. AND here’s an interesting fact for you: Guess who was doing the backstreet abortions?? The SAME doctors (or types of doctors now, of course) who perform abortion in the abortion clinics. They usually did the abortions after hours when their regular medical practice was closed. And – just as today – the girls didn’t receive good after care and instructions, and ended up dying sometimes from bleeding or infection. There is a big cover-up on how many women still die from LEGAL abortion…for the same reasons.

Anyway, just my two (or ten) cents worth. Love you guys!

Bad idea. First, these tests are very expensive. If they're not doing followup tests, which it doesn't sound like they are, they're going to get in trouble. False positives are very common. That's why you have to do follow up tests.

Why are we singling out people who get welfare? Tons of people get benefits from the government. Why are we choosing not to test those people, but are just testing welfare recipients?

In the United States we don't assume people are guilty and make them pee in a cup to prove they are innocent. Thank God. This proposal would be the camel with the nose under tent, the slippery slope to mix metaphors. It wouldn't end until every recipient of any gov't assistance, in any shape or form, were presumed guilty and tested for drug use. That would mean all of us get tested. So much for our liberties.

It's too bad you guys didn't meet Elmer Cover. My uncle who used to race locally and even wanted to become one of the 33 drivers in the Indy 500 back in the 20's, but couldn't raise enough money to do so. He used to race Studabakers and anything with wheels at the time. Good seeing you guys are on podcasts now.
